This position is accountable to the Director, IEF Canada, and will support the maintenance and development of core client relationships and delivery on the team’s objectives of growing Company’s project and export finance business in Canada.
The Infrastructure, Energy & Export Finance (IEF) Vice President (VP) would be responsible for:
Capitalizing on Canada’s significant public-private-partnership (P3) pipeline.
• Building market share in project bonds, in liaison with Debt Capital Markets (DCM) syndication team
• Supporting regional and cross-border oil & gas, power, renewables, metals & mining opportunities, in liaison with Company’s Resources and Energy sector teams, and
• Collaborate with the IEF Americas Team to originate and structure corss-border transactions
The role involves credit risk management as well as growing revenues by identifying opportunities for marketing various Company products and services to existing clients and prospects. Position requires in depth knowledge of the credit process and close interaction with all major product areas including debt and equity capital markets, leveraged & acquisition financing, treasury, derivatives, payments and cash management as well as global Company Group offices.
Impact on the Business
• Supporting the Director on the maintenance and development of core corporate relationships as well as new business accounts to deliver against portfolio targets.
• Identify, structure and execute transactions by liaising with product partners, credit and clients.
• Complete credit and market risk assessments of transactions; handle documentation negotiations with clients and lawyers; ensure proper booking of transactions internally and compliance with internal policies.
• Coordinate internal client planning and on-boarding activities consistent with policies and procedures.
• Mentor and support team analysts on credit analysis, financial modeling, preparing presentations, reporting and client support.
Customers / Stakeholders
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders including credit, product teams and operations/support functions.
• Proactive business idea generation and responding to client needs.
• Demonstrate increase share of client wallet.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive client plans; appropriately update and utilize Company’s client management system, Client Vision; organize and direct effective client service teams; incorporate relevant Global Sector Head input/involvement in the relationship development process.
• Demonstrate expertise to be internally viewed as the sector “expert” for assigned sector/clients and provide support to colleagues related to assigned sector/clients.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the Company brand.
• Communication with internal product specialists including Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Treasury, Derivatives, Payments and Cash Management, as well as global Company offices.
• Proactive management of client service teams to ensure functioning of client relationship management process.
• Maintain constructive relationships with Risk, Compliance, Audit and Operations.
• Demonstrate professional conduct in a constructive and responsive manner, consistent with Company Group’s core values and collective management.
• Provide other ongoing assistance and support as may be required.
• Develop and coach associates and analysts within the team.
• Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
• Maintain a high standard of credit quality and minimize credit losses.
• Ensure credit proposals appropriately address key risk - reward implications and are submitted on a timely basis.
• Compliance with all applicable internal policies including Group Systems Manuals, Functional Instruction Manuals, Know Your Client Procedures and Anti Money Laundering Procedures.
• Ensure that the appropriate and efficient use of travel and entertainment, managing such within the annual operating plan.

• The individual will function in a dynamic and demanding business environment requiring prioritising to meet deadlines and revenue targets.
Role Context
• The position requires a team-oriented self-starter who has the ability to work with limited supervision within a small, focused business group.
• This position will appeal to an individual who is comfortable working closely with product, credit and support teams; has an analytical focus, is results as well as sales oriented.
Management of Risk
• Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

• Is aware of the operational risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Observation of Internal Controls
• Maintains Company internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
• Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Qualifications
• Business related degree such as a Company website or equivalent required. CFA or MBA qualification is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years experience of relevant financing and client management roles, ideally in the project finance sector. Demonstrated track record of results.
• Strong knowledge of capital markets, corporate finance and transaction banking products
• Infrastructure/P3 and oil & gas experience is an asset
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, planning, communication, negotiation, presentation, sales, inter-personal and leadership skills.
• Excellent credit skills.
• Sound knowledge of MS PowerPoint and MS Excel and credit and risk systems of the Bank.
