Total Traffic - Director of Ops - Chicago Hub
Job Summary:
Leads all aspects of a traffic reporting operations center in a management role. Responsible for managing all staff, content, on-air and online products.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to...
• Identifies, recruits, trains, and coaches on-air traffic reporters and producers. Frequently listens and conducts air check sessions with on-air staff.
• Scheduling of all on-air and production staff.
• Ensures staff has taken/passed/maintained all company programs, plans and training.
• Payroll submissions by company deadlines.
• Employee goal setting and reviews.
• Maintains reporter broadcast logs, spot logs and copy, keeping all current.
• Partners with Regional Vice President of Operations and VP of Affiliate Relations in support of local and corporate and affiliate goals.
• Manages department within budget on a yearly, quarterly, and monthly basis.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with all staff and affiliate partners.
• Submits payables according to company policy in a prompt fashion.
Qualifications
• Knowledge of FCC broadcast rules and regulations; knowledge of federal, state and local contesting rules and regulations.
• Working knowledge of radio station automated systems is a plus.
• Working knowledge of digital audio editing systems, such as GoldWave.
• Knowledge of region geography, surface transportation networks, major roadways, infrastructure and commuting patterns.
• Knowledge and appreciation of traffic presentation, excellent on-air performance, familiarity with radio programming.
• Excellent team leadership and delegation skills, including motivation of staff; can set goals & expectations, provide honest feedback and manage performance.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• High degree of planning and organizing skills; can multi-task and meet specific deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Superior oral and written communication skills; excellent grammar; can adjust communications style based on audience needs.
Work Experience
• Prior experience directing and managing a team.
• Experience working at a radio station that includes interactions with a Program and/or News Director.
• Prior experience as a broadcaster, either in news, traffic or sports.
• Prior experience as a Program Director or Assistant Program Director is a plus.
Education
• 4-year college degree preferred
