Company is looking for an energetic, motivated and PR-savvy rockstar to temporarily assist the brand communications team working on best-in-class brands including Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World, and Bicycling in the New York City office. The ideal candidate has a degree in Public Relations/Communications or a related field and possesses a strong interest in magazines, public relations and media in general.
In this temporary role, you will gain valuable, on-the-job experience in a fast-paced, creative environment, and you’ll have the opportunity to directly interact with our talent, vendors and brands as they relate to all things public relations and special projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Press tracking and organization of press reports and recaps
• Drafting pitches and press materials
• Media outreach and coordination
• Building and researching new media contacts and lists
• Event support, including building guest lists and working on-site
• Assist with TV segments
IDEAL CANDIDATES:
• Previous PR and media relations internship or entry-level experience
• Ability to attend events that take place outside of regular work hours (where applicable)
• Must be an excellent writer and communicator, with the ability to identify news hooks and write strong pitches
• Be able to juggle and coordinate multiple projects and tasks
• Detail-oriented
• Dependable and able to effectively manage your time; ability work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• A strong knowledge of websites, blogs, magazines, newspapers, broadcast, etc
• Magazine/book/online publicity experience strongly preferred, interest in health and fitness a plus
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Cision required.
