As we grow to achieve that mission, we’re looking to add a highly technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead our performance engineering efforts to provide users around the world with the fastest experience possible.
This work will require significant cross functional collaboration between Infrastructure and all product teams. A TPM on the performance program will aid with setting baseline goals and collaborating with various team to meet those goals. This will entail working with the performance team to enable and assist product teams to improve performance, as well as negotiating to prioritize performance improvement initiatives. For each track of work, identifying dependencies, tracking progress across different product and infrastructure teams, and ensuring the performance improvement work progresses is core to the job.
Responsibilities
• Define and advocate for a performance minded culture throughout the organization.
• Translate a high-level organizational objective to executable projects by collaborating with teams to establish baseline performance expectations and plans to meet those objectives.
• Provide widespread visibility through a regular reporting cadence on the state of the program.
• Work with engineering and product leadership on approaches to accountability for achieving performance goals.
• Identify system/tooling requirements by working with various product teams to understand their performance needs.
• Maintain urgency by ensuring there is strong collaboration within multiple parts of the organization who may have completing priorities.
• Effectively manage change by influencing and communicating with key stakeholders.
• Regularly assess risks and opportunities; understand best practices, drive for process improvements, and find new ways of operating, with a focus on simplification and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
• Self-motivated, proactive and proven ability to adapt well and work with distributed teams having different operating cadences.
• Experience developing process where little exists, but demonstrated flexibility to get things done.
• Detail-oriented and able to understand the bigger picture by using your technical expertise and problem solving abilities to prioritize and manage blocking issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions. You can take a vague problem, crisply frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and drive an initiative over the finish-line.
• Experience working in a highly cross functional environment where communication with multiple groups is imperative.
• Ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies with minimal lag time
• Excellent written and oral business communication and people skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• BA/BS degree, 7 years technical project or program management experience.
• Familiarity with Jira, DataDog, application performance management solutions, and performance engineering best practices and strategies.
