DESCRIPTION:
Company Television City is seeking a full time IBEW Technical Director in the Technical and Productions Operations group. The TD’s responsibilities include interfacing with the show Director, Producers, Company Studio Managers and other production personnel, performing video switches using production switchers and playing back video clips from video servers, and supervising the show’s technical production crew (camera operators, audio operators, graphics operator, utilities, etc.). The TD is a technical liaison between the show and Company studios and reports to Company’s Studio Manager.
The TD is expected to execute the creative vision of the Director/Producers and bring their ideas to the screen. This may include building electronic effects and the programing of complex video switching equipment, digital video effects units, routers and control systems. As part of the studio production team, the TD will operate and configure production equipment such as GVG; Kalypso, Kayenne and Karrera switchers, Sony MVS8000 switcher, Imagine and Evertz Routers, and EVS systems. Technical knowledge of production video, audio, comms, and record/playback are required. The TD should also have a thorough understanding of staging, basic facility operations, safety, and basic signal transmissions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High level communication skill is a must, as well as attention to detail. The TD must possess the ability to work collaboratively with a highly technical team in determining show and production performance parameters. To ability to determine operational configurations of all studio technical systems and solving complex issues during production is required. The TD is expected to be available and work a variety of schedules based on production needs.
Experience and Educational Requirements;
A degree in broadcasting, engineering, technology, or other technical science is desirable but not required for consideration. This position requires a minimum of 8 years working in a major tele-production studio, as a Technical Director or Editor.
