Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. Company Tax Operations is a cross-divisional operational utility that supports Retail, Institutional, and Corporate business lines. Tax Operations is responsible for ensuring compliance with IRS & State Regulations related to US tax withholding, reporting, and filing obligations across Company's Retail and Institutional based clients and legal entities. Tax Operations works closely with senior Business Unit representatives and Financial Advisors, providing an in-depth client service role to insure that all tax related inquiries are addressed on a timely basis.
Tax Operations is seeking an Executive Director to Head the Wealth Management Tax Operations team within the Tax & Client Reporting Operations (TCRO) Division, Global Wealth Management Operations. The role will report to the Head of Tax & Client Reporting Operations (Managing Director) based in New York. This is a challenging position that requires team and production management skills, risk management, strong relationship skills and strategic program management skills. This role will have responsibility for all Wealth Management Tax Operations Teams with a total staff of approximately 90 across various locations. The successful candidate will also have a strong working knowledge and experience in the US Tax Operations space as it relates to tax documentation, compliance, forms reporting, and regulatory filings.
Qualifications
Tax Competencies:
• Strong working knowledge of current IRS regulations (including Chapters 3, 4 and 61) requiring operational process changes:
• FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliant Act)
• Cost Basis
• Withholding/reporting rules across cash and derivative transactions
• Strong working knowledge of various IRS filings (945 / 1042) IRS communications (penalties / audits), and communication with other regulatory bodies
• Ability to address tax related questions and issues affecting clients and FA's requiring immediate attention
• Ability to effectively assess the impact of IRS rule interpretations to both clients and operations
• 15+ years of experience in management within a financial services operations environment.
• Leadership skills: The candidate must have experience of managing large scale teams and the ability to influence senior leaders within the organization. Experience of managing and developing talent at different levels of experience is also essential.
• Problem solving skills: The candidate must have the ability to identify complex risks early and develop actionable mitigation plans.
• Communications skills: The candidate must possess strong written and oral executive-level communications skills and have experience of engaging with executive level stakeholders
• Client management and teamwork skills: The candidate must have demonstrated ability in being flexible and working with stakeholders and colleagues at all experience levels. Experience of engaging and influencing senior leaders within the organization is essential
• Must possess college degree
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and complex Tax Operations environment
