Talent Development Manager

Summary of role
The Talent Development Manager is responsible for preparing our students for their careers in industry, ensuring that we continue to be an important part of the Creative Industries talent pipeline. They will achieve this through an effective Aftercare scheme (including advice, coaching, showreel clinics and workshops) and by liaising with industry partners to both identify career opportunities and to monitor trends and new recruitment needs across the sector.
Key responsibilities
• Providing current students with information about the career development during their course, including running workshops and signposting internal and external opportunities, and providing details of the Aftercare scheme;
• Assisting Alumni in the generation of CV / covering letter via email or by 1:2:1 meeting and supporting them in the process of deciding job application strategies (LinkedIn profile, creating their own website, companies to contact, etc). Filing CVs and covering letters on Escape Studios System;
• Monitoring current employment opportunities for Escapees and distributing these to appropriate candidates;
• Liaising with industry partner recruitment teams to identify trends and future employment opportunities and passing this onto the course team;
• Monitoring Alumni career progression, maintaining liaisons, ensuring that Alumni success story details are promptly communicated to the suitable department;
• Creating and updating internal and external documents related to Aftercare Support, including CV template, Showreel Guidelines, useful links, job hunting information, etc.;
• Scheduling showreel clinics with tutors, managing, attending sessions and writing detailed reports. The reports will be filed and sent as guidelines for reel improvement;
• Being the first point of contact for Job offers/ internships, external / internal projects / collaboration with studios from the industry and volunteering events. Making opportunities available to the Alumni and current students, after assessment;
• Working with the Alumni Communications Executive to plan and deliver alumni engagement communications and events;
• Working with the Alumni Communications Executive and External Relations Team to deliver Alumni success stories for use in marketing and PR activity;
• Supporting events as required including the VFX Festival, trade shows
• Keep up to date with key employment legislation;
• Other Ad Hoc administration tasks, such as updating our CRM system with Alumni details, updating the ‘Escapees Tracker’, ‘Student Skills' assessment spreadsheet, ‘External Projects’ Tracker
Qualifications
Essential:
• Up to date knowledge and experience of the VFX industry
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and experience in dealing with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Desirable:
• Experience in a talent development or careers function in a company or educational institution within the VFX industry
• A relevant higher qualification in the visual effects space
• A coaching qualification or similar
