DESCRIPTION:
Gathers, produces, coordinates and manages content coverage for Auburn Tigers basketball (team and recruiting) as well as some Auburn football (team and recruiting) on 247Sports. Has strong acumen for the sport and team at the local level. Develops editorial and social strategy to increase subscriptions and viewership. Identifies, produces and programs content to satisfy both endemic user base and social audience. Independently works to grow audience participation by starting new topics and answering questions on team site message board communities in timely fashion. Also moderates community participation. Creates and develops own newsgathering techniques to generate sources and make coverage more comprehensive to grow subscriptions and traffic. Manages social media assets, including Facebook, Twitter and newsletter, and implements own strategy to drive audience engagement through posts on accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must live or be willing to move to Auburn, AL
At least 1 year experience covering either FBS-level football or Division I basketball as the primary beat reporter for a daily newspaper or online publication
Well-versed in breaking news and building sources to be able to do so
A willingness to work with others on staff to continue to make AuburnUndercover the premiere destination for Auburn fans
A strong understanding of SEO headlines and headline writing in general
be able to build our audience through various social media outlets
Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred:
Must live or be willing to move to Auburn, AL
