SUMMARY
The Staff Auditor will assist in performing author audits. They will ensure royalty calculations are accurate and in compliance with terms in author contracts. The Staff Auditor will adhere to department and company internal controls and policies. Responsible for the timely completion of audit responses including accurate, complete and organized work papers. Research issues and make recommendations to improve policies and procedures. Work with external auditors to provide support and reconcile discrepancies, if applicable.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare complex author audit support using various data systems.
• Perform inventory/sales reconciliation to reported sales on author royalty statements.
• Assist in preparing written responses to Audit Reports.
• Assist supervisor and other staff members on special projects as directed.
• Utilize Knowledge of department operations to gather and compile information.
• Assist in testing department SOX controls.
Qualifications
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
The Staff Auditor will perform a variety of tasks using various systems that support historical royalty calculations. The position requires a versatile individual who is action oriented and decisive along with the ability to identify and resolve root causes of problems. The ideal candidate must be very precise and perceptive with strong communication and computer skills.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• One to three years' experience in royalties, internal audit or public accounting.
• Will consider related Publishing Industry experience.
• Bachelors degree in Accounting.
• General knowledge of Accounting/Auditing theory and practices.
• Ability to interpret author royalty contracts and apply applicable royalty calculation.
• Analytical ability sufficient to assess and verify accuracy of accounting and auditing records and reports. Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Ability to take project ownership and see through completion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Proficient in Google Email and Google Drive.
• Working knowledge of Business Objects.
• Familiar with SAP & Oracle
