We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Staff Accountant in our East Windsor, NJ office. Does this sound like you?
The primary purpose of this role is to assist the General Accounting Manager in the areas of general accounting, including fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, BS reconciliations, and any other projects that may be assigned. The role will have significant involvement with Genpact, MHE’s business process management services partner.
The General Accounting Accountant will play an important role in continually striving for resource optimization within the Genpact team. The General Accounting Accountant will need to take a global approach to the role and drive consistency and best practices across all the regional offices and with the offshore team.
The General Accounting Accountant’s primary responsibilities include managing the monthly close process around general accounting the Fixed Assets, reviewing and confirming the accuracy of various monthly reports issued by the Record to Report team, preparing BS account reconciliations, and reviewing and auditing BS account reconciliations prepared by other personnel. Additionally, the General Accounting Accountant will be assigned ad hoc projects by the General Accounting Manager.
Day to day activities will include training, support, and oversight of a team of two to three Genpact offshore resources. Activities will also include responding to requests from internal and external auditors, and from other departments within MHE such as: Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Business Units, and the Controller’s office. Travel to India or other international locations may be required from time to time.
Critical Functions:
• Review of the work produced by the Genpact R2R Team against agreed Statement of Work, including review of balance sheet reconciliations and month end journal entries.
• Managing the month end process and accounting calculations.
• Support (including regional standardization) on all general accounting activities and management of direct reports.
• Special Projects – Completes as assigned to meet business needs. This can include acquisition analysis, pricing analysis, portfolio and market analysis, and requests from Segment and Corporate.
• Driving process improvements and operational efficiencies in the general accounting function.
• Involvement in quarterly SOX reporting cycle.
• Involvement in all internal & external audits.
• Variance analysis and close collaboration with Finance & Tax.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred or equivalent work experience
• Five plus years experience
• Strong understanding of US GAAP Strong analytical skills and judgment
• Ability to make recommendations and influence business decisions
• Team oriented, able to work well across the organization as a business partner
• Good system skills. Ability to design business processes and system requirements
• Publishing industry and/or digital media experience helpful
• Must meet deadlines and be able to react to changing business requirements
• Ability to complete financial analyses with minimal supervision
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).
• Hands-on, Detail-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
