Job Title
Sr. Research Manager - Insights & Strategy
The Senior Research Manager provides strategic research support and consultation for Company brands focused on print advertising insight requests. The Senior Research Manager will be the lead research advocate working in partnership with Research Directors to manage primary research and insight project requests for key growth categories and accounts across all platforms. This individual is a creative, media savvy, out of the box thinker with a passion for telling the story in a conversational tone. This individual will be involved in all facets of research from assessing needs to recommending research strategy to packaging insight deliverables. In addition, the individual in this position:
• Will act as core support for Research Directors in handling insight research requests received from ad sales teams and brands across Company; Has a fundamental understanding of both qualitative/quantitative research methodologies as well as proficiency in analyzing data, interpreting results and communicating findings.
• Will disseminate category and market information in a creative and easy-to-read format for key advertising growth categories, consumer cohorts and life stages across Company business groups; Maintain knowledge of syndicated and secondary resources for growth categories and accounts.
• Keep up with industry trends and current research tools; Maintains current research vendor relationships and facilitates communication to internal team regarding product enhancements, methodology changes and other pertinent information.
Essential Job Functions
40% Facilitate primary research needs across Company business groups. Responsibilities entail project management and execution of advertising insight initiatives, usage of Company Voices consumer panel and our private online community, Real Women Talking, to assess consumer behavior, brand insights and engagement metrics.
35% Development of advertising category overviews and insights; Build stories using primary and secondary research to address business challenges, client goals and brand positioning Company website monitor key trends within categories with implications to advertising.
15% Research support for Insights & Strategy team in managing insight research to support marketing partnerships with clients and leveraging full suite of resources/tools to maximize our competitive market position
10% Works in partnership with Research Directors on macro research initiatives relating to departmental strategic goals. Responsible for maintaining departmental category deliverables that generate valuable consumer insights for all Company business groups
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Five to seven years in primary research design, analysis and reporting, project management; prior traditional & digital media experience a plus.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills required; Strong presentation skills a plus.
Creative, out of the box, strategic thinker with developed analytical skills.
Must be organized and detailed oriented
Must have ability to work on multiple projects
Working knowledge of syndicated print & digital research resources (MRI, MARS, IPSOS, Comscore/MRI Fusion, etc) a must.
Working knowledge of print & digital advertising accountability tools (MRI Starch, Vizu, Nielsen, Millward-Brown/Dynamic Logic) preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel; proficiency with New Age, PIB and Media Radar.
