Sr. Director of Project Management
Summary
The Senior Director of Project Management has primary responsibility for leading the Agile process for the product organization. Ensure predictable delivery, adoption, transformation and maturity of the process, creating feedback loops and constantly improving our standards, quality, and productivity. The Sr. Director plays a role in Agile planning, facilitating the Agile process, supporting delivery teams, and providing advice and guidance to project managers.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitors and evolves the product organization’s Agile practices.
• Direct line management of Project Manager(s)
• Captures team metrics, shares with team, and suggests new metrics.
• Agile Ceremony oversight and process definition
• Observe, lead and teach new Project Managers in daily stand-ups, sprint review meetings, retrospectives meetings, and other related meetings.
• Fosters and facilitates cross-team coordination.
• Coordinates operational issues, that include status reports and other reporting practices.
• Collaborate with the team to build measures to continuously gauge progress.
• Facilitates team development, mediates conflicts and encourages healthy team dynamics.
• Mentors team members and other stakeholders on Agile best practices.
• Mediates conflicts between development team’s goal of delivering high technical quality and product owner’s goal of delivering more features.
• Systematically monitor the overall Agile adoption, identify opportunities and provide targeted guidance and coaching.
• Empower ownership and problem-solving skills within team.

Education
• Bachelor’s, no required specialty
Experience
• PMI-ACP or Certified Agile required
• 10+ years of experience working in agile software development
• 5+ years of experience managing a large team
• Excellent understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional principles and practices.
• Deep understanding and experience of agile and lean thinking, and some experience with concrete frameworks and techniques such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Usability, Dev Ops, and Continuous Delivery.
• Experience with Scaled Agile (SAFe) techniques are a plus.
• Strong leader that provides guidance, without becoming a bottleneck.
• Can inspire and rally a group around a higher purpose.
·An understanding of the scientific process and ability to lead your teams in conducting experiments and collecting data for objective decision-making.
• Jira/Confluence familiarity is required.
• Business-minded and passionate about getting people aligned towards a common goal.
• Experience managing large, cross-functional efforts (e.g. spanning functions such as engineering, marketing, content, legal, and others).
• Flexible and pragmatic about methods and processes, and are able to use your judgment to apply the model and approach that fit best with the context.
