Role Description:
• Collaborate with business owners and teammates to solve business problems, which will include standard tool or custom algorithm/model development
• Work closely with data architects and software developers to generate seamless business intelligence and data modeling solutions for business partners
• Dive into large, noisy, and complex real-world behavioral data to produce innovative data models of customer TV viewing and purchase behaviors
• Manage and oversee big data modeling projects
• Manage and oversee a team of people
Qualifications
Functional Competencies:
• Experience with big data and large data mining tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Spark MLlib, R, Weka, Pandas, etc.)
• Experience with building models using machine learning methods such as logistic regression, clustering, PCA, k-means analysis, random forest, neural nets, etc.
• Experience doing statistics, test and control experiments, and hypothesis testing
• Strong understanding of database structure, design, query languages (e.g. SQL), fundamentals of mathematics, large data sets, distributed systems, etc.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud based analytics tools
• Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker
• Ability to understand, manage, and navigate large data sets
Interpersonal Competencies:
• Experience and ability to present findings and analyses to senior leadership succinctly
• Experience sharing insights and recommendations to audiences with varying levels of analytic understanding
• Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terminology
• Team player with a 'can-do' attitude
• Ability to work effectively across functions, disciplines, and levels
Preferred Educational Level:
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or other quantitative field.
• Advanced degree (PhD) in a quantitative field (i.e., Statistics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Physics, Econometrics, etc.) is a bonus.
Experience:
• 12+ years working experience
• Direct, personal experience working with massive amounts of data
• Experience in telecommunications, internet, ecommerce, or media, preferred
