Primary Responsiblities
• To provide support of data warehouse database technology and it’s deployment and usage standards.
• To lead application development and support teams in optimal use of database warehouse database technology through creation and communication of standards and walkthrough of critical application components.
• Ensure that databases are optimally designed, so that applications meet their defined SLA s, reuse of existing database structures is maximized and operational costs are minimized.
• To ensure that all database and environmental changes are appropriately tested and implemented in such a manner that there is no impact to Company systems and clients.
• To provide database related technical support for development and production environment including required level of 7X24 on call support.
The scope of the position is Company Group-wide.
Maintenance Services
• Create and maintain data warehouse database & processing environments for application testing, pre-production verification, and production operation.
• Provide technical support for data warehouse processing, data access, performance tuning, and database recovery. Coach T&O staff, as appropriate.
• Perform analysis required to resolve complex technical issues/problems.
Design Services
• Provide skilled counsel in the technical design of applications. Ensure optimum use of software facilities and features; walk through critical components.
• With senior staff, make decisions on data placement and strategic/tactical software, addressing business-specific objectives in the context of Company technology strategies.
• Transform logical data models into physical database structures via standard processes. Provide data modelling assistance, as required.
• Participate in the architecture review process for development projects. Be accountable for adherence to standards and policies; escalate non-conformance.
• Serve as the technical lead for projects of short duration.
Infrastructure Services
• Research, analyze and make recommendations on software/utility usage.
• With senior staff, assess the impact of software upgrades and other environmental changes. Communicate, coordinate and implement application modifications as required.
• Participate in the development and review of standards, guidelines and processes.
• Seek productivity, quality and efficiency through tools and procedures.
Position Requirements
• Excellent technical knowledge of Teradata data warehouse database technologies.
• High level of proven competence with data manipulation languages, data definition languages, physical database design, and application performance analysis & tuning.
• Knowledge of enterprise middleware and security tools and standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate with people in a wide variety of areas and at various levels, from technical specialists to project managers.
• Ability to learn and absorb quickly new concepts (in business and in systems), apply new knowledge as appropriate and transfer knowledge to others
• Good coaching/mentoring skills.
