Responsibilities
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for the negotiation of price, terms, and contractual conditions for items and direct materials supporting our domestic factories. You will locate, evaluate, audit and develop suppliers from initial contact to full production with the definition of vendors’ capabilities and capacity for development, commercialization and production by specific type. You will manage the bid process. In this role, you will create, place, and monitor the delivery of purchase orders. You will anticipate potential delivery issues to ensure production schedules are adhered to and future quality, delivery, costing, and fit-for-use concerns are avoided. You will closely monitor and drive key performance indicators, provide visibility to key focus areas, drive standardization and reporting formats to monitor vendor performance, and generate vendor score cards. You will cultivate relationships in cross-functional teams to effectively formulate and execute long-term sourcing strategies. You will partner with scheduling, manufacturing and development departments to establish and carry out new style introductions, customization launches, MTS and MTO production to ensure supply requirements are obtainable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of experience. CPSM (ISM) or APICS certification and MBA desired.
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel and MRP/ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer-service oriented.
• Lean, Pull Systems or Kanban experience preferred.
• Domestic travel required – approximately 5 percent.
