Sports Marketing Manager - Hockey, adidas League Licensing
Purpose:
Responsible for the Hockey BU’s “win the locker room” strategy. Development and implementation of sport-specific Asset Strategies (NHL & other relevant ice hockey assets/programming). Oversee sports marketing strategy for Hockey BU.
Key Accountabilities:
• Oversee a team who is ultimately responsible for adidas direct relationship with NHL Clubs, players, and other strategic hockey partnerships/assets.
• Lead group who manage product-related contact with all NHL equipment staff & marketing departments
• Lead team deal negotiation, player deal contract negotiation,to delivery of product and activation.
• Develop and Drive master Asset Strategy document, which will serve as the base for all plans across teams.
• Manage MWB associated with Product / in-Market / Retail.
• Participate and support interface between each NHL team and adidas internal networks, including product marketing, brand marketing, PR and retail marketing.
• Lead product seeding efforts with b2b influencers, NHL players, and other non-media stakeholders
• Maintain regular communication with program partners to ensure all commitments are fulfilled and superior service has been provided.
• Maintain regular communication with sales force and key accounts and develop strategic plans
• Assist the Events Manager on developing and executing NHL event plans.
• Assist with the execution of athlete appearances and retail promotions
• Heavy travel and overtime may be required during peak season
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of assigned sport/category
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making skills
• Ability to work across teams and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a professional attitude in fast paced, changing environments.
• Ability to communicate with people on different levels within and outside the organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)
Qualifications
1. Four year college or university degree, emphasis in marketing or business preferred.
2. Minimum of 4-6 years related experience and/or training;
3. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for a degree.
Language Skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
