Ten-month position, mid-August – mid-June
Characteristic duties & responsibilities:
•Provide publicity and statistical data for all varsity programs.
•Submit statistical information to NCAA and NAC offices on weekly basis.
•Maintain and enhance the athletics web site.
•Compose press releases and summaries about Lyndon athletics teams, coaches and student-athletes for website and distribution to the campus community, local, regional, and national media.
•Promote student athlete success in their hometown newspapers
•Serve as liaison between Lyndon athletics and local newspapers, television and radio stations.
•Compile and update archived data (statistics, news clippings, photos, etc.) for all athletic teams.
•Oversee and serve as in-game statistician at all home athletic contests.
•Supervise student interns and game workers and ensure all home events are properly staffed and facilities are prepared.
•Develop and assess policies, procedures, and protocols related to contest management.
•Coach one Division III athletic team under the guidelines established by the NCAA and NAC including: year-round recruitment of prospective student-athletes, player development, practice and game coaching, monitoring the curricular and co-curricular progress of student athletes, participation in fundraising and community service projects, compliance with NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, and willingness to support the philosophy of the school and conference.
•Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and the Director of Annual Giving to create and implement a strategic fundraising plan for the Athletics Department to relieve operational budget expenditures and enhance facility and program needs.
•Promote the Hornet Club.
•Plan and promote campus and regional events and programs in support of alumni relations and fundraising initiatives in conjunction with Institutional Advancement.
•Update and expand the athletic alumni database with the most current contact information.
•Strengthen communication between the athletic alumni and Lyndon Athletics Department by sending monthly updates through social media venues, email, and mailings.
•Assist the Office of Development and Alumni Relations with special projects as assigned. •Coordinate all sports photography and the creation of athletic recruitment material with the Executive Director of Communications.
Minimum qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in marketing/PR, business, sports management, or other related field required, master’s degree preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Highly motivated and organized.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
• Strong computer skills and competency in Stat Crew, Microsoft Word, InDesign, Presto, Excel, Gimp, and Photoshop.
• Collegiate playing/coaching experience, strong working knowledge of the sport’s skills and strategies.
• Ability to work nights and weekends, and to travel during the playing season.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects in order to complete all duties efficiently and on time.
• CPR/AED & First Aid certified (or ability to obtain)
• Supervisory experience with college students preferred.
• Previous experience in collegiate sports information or media relations is highly desirable.

Additional Salary Information:
Anticipated starting salary $32,000 ($40,000 FTE); an excellent benefits package includes paid vacation, personal, and medical leave; 13 paid holidays; employer contribution to retirement equaling 10% of salary; a comprehensive insurance package; and tuition benefit for self and eligible family members.
