Department Description:
SPT Media & Talent Relations handles the publicity needs for both domestic and international distribution properties as well as international networks programming. Ranging from launching new series domestically to coordinating talent participation for an international talent tour, our department handles all aspects of media and talent relations..
Proposed Project Profile:
The publicity intern will be exposed to a variety of tasks including: Press Clippings, Campaign Launches, Press Interviews, Set Visits, EPK/Promo Shoots, Talent Tours, Various Events, Photo Selects, Editing Press Kit Materials, PR Brainstorm Sessions, Drafting Log Lines and more.
In addition to all the current series we will have the interns working on, for the Spring semester, SPT Media & Talent Relations will need additional support in preparing for LA Screenings, working on pilot and the all the shows we having filming.
Internship Learning Opportunities/ Experience Profile:
• The intern will gain valuable publicity knowledge in:
• Understanding what press breaks are and how to determine which breaks are important.
• Understanding media and how they work in conjunction with publicists.
• Understanding what goes into a press kit and how to create it.
• Understanding what goes into launching a domestic television publicity campaign.
• Understanding the importance of creating relationships (clients, media, talent, production, etc.)
• Understanding the detailed process of organizing a publicity event from start to finish
Qualifications:
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
• Communications, Business or English Major (with an interest in public relations/television)
• Strong Communications Skills
• Strong Writing Skills
• Strong Organizational Skills
• Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office- Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint
• Strong knowledge of the television industry and current U.S. programming
• Strong knowledge of media sources for entertainment news
• Multi-tasker/Detail Oriented
The Spectrum Internship Program's Winter/Spring session is a part-time, 20 hour/ week commitment lasting for a 15week period from early January through early May . All applicants must be in good academic standing and available for
the entire 15 week session.
