Responsibilities:
Through direct & indirect staff, the Head of Compensation will be responsible for the development, design, management, communication and administration of a comprehensive strategy. This role will oversee compensation programs aimed at providing motivation and incentives to drive effective performance across the organization. The Head of Compensation will serve as the thought leader in developing solutions and approaches to employee compensation.
It is critical that the compensation programs are aligned with the business goals. In addition, the programs must enhance Company’s ability to hire, retain, and motivate employees. Additional emphasis will be placed on salary planning, incentive program development and management/sales compensation design.
Key accountabilities include:
• Partner with the Global Head of HR, CEO, CFO and compensation team to set overall firm compensation strategy
• Provide direction and leadership for the compensation programs globally
• Partner with Finance, Tax, Legal and compensation to assess the current internal model and drive the change needed for efficiencies and a more integrated process between the functions
• Ensure that specific plans and recommendations are in line with the company’s business goals and support the global objectives of the human resources group
• Drive the assessment, strategies, program development/design, implementation, and monitoring of results for all compensation programs globally (including base salary, short term incentives, long term incentives) rewards & recognition
• Effectively interact at all levels and with all lines of business, finance, legal and human resources and others to manage the success of the program
• Regularly assess the internal equity and external competitiveness of the company’s compensation program to ensure that the organization can recruit and retain top talent through the participation in and the collection of external compensation survey data and competitive benchmarking for Company’s compensation programs globally. Conduct ad-hoc studies, analyses and evaluations to meet specific business needs.
• Provide leadership in aligning and developing performance-based compensation schemes & systems with the needs of the business.
• Oversee the preparation of materials for the Board of Directors Compensation Committee (from data analysis to recommendation and implementation) including meeting documentation and presentations.
• Consult with and provide direction, guidance and resolution to global HR staff and managers on compensation issues.
• In partnership with Learning and Development, drive HR performance metrics throughout the organization.
• Coordinate with HRIS and IT staff to ensure that the needed level of reporting and record keeping is developed and maintained. Ensure appropriate technology is maximized to administer all compensation programs.
• Manage the administration of /merit review process, bonus plans and long term incentive plans.
• Coordinate activities of vendors and consultants.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 – 12 years of experience and a successful track record of leading the compensation for a complex financial services organization. He/She will have experience leading, facilitating and interacting with seasoned senior leaders and leadership committees.
Additional requirements:
• Although it is critical for the person to have proven compensation experience with an organization recognized for developing strong HR senior leaders in the function; human resources generalist, consulting and/or earlier complementary experience in finance, legal, operations will be considered. International experience in one or more of these roles is a desirable.
• Track record as a strategic thought partner to a Head of HR and Senior Leadership Team with demonstrated analytic capabilities.
• An individual with a high level of energy/results orientation, superior discretion and judgment, analytical, hands on with excellent communication skills.
• Strong leader and manager with a team oriented, open communication style that is consistent with Company’s highly collaborative culture. Possess the ability to quickly adapt to change and new priorities.
• Hands-on approach -- must be able to effectively manage a team.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships with several constituencies, including executives, line management and HR team members.
• Proven track record in developing an innovative approach to compensation solutions to meet business challenges; and effectiveness in leading or participating in change initiatives at various organizational levels.
• Experience with financial analysis including economic analysis, cost/benefit analysis or other actuarial analysis exposure is beneficial.
• A strong grasp of all tax, accounting and regulatory issues that pertain to executive compensation.
• Strong knowledge base of all aspects of global compensation program design, implementation and communication.
• Extensive practical knowledge of a wide variety of compensation techniques, theories, programs and plans including cash compensation, merit programs, incentive/variable compensation and rewards and recognition etc.

Education:
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree. An advanced degree is strongly preferred.
