Position Summary:
This position is a Microsoft Enterprise Systems Engineer role within the CV business. Candidates are required to have demonstrated strong technical skills across multiple disciplines including Active Directory, Backup Systems, Windows Server platforms, SAN Storage Technologies, and patch management in a Virtualized environment. Should have a strong desire to learn and apply existing experience towards strengthening the server infrastructure team. Candidates should place an emphasis on continual application of self-development, self-improvement, and service excellence through continuous learning and professionalism in a knowledge culture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support for Microsoft Enterprise Server hardware and software in a multi-domain environment.
• Provide routine maintenance, patches and upgrades to server hardware, software and firmware and familiarity with testing new releases.
• Responsible for administration and monitoring of multiple servers, measuring system stability, availability and performance in a virtualized environment (VMWare).
• Responsible for server capacity planning using SolarWinds or other capacity planning systems.
• Execute change management and audit processes consistent with documented procedures.
• Coordinate with local and remote IT team members for monitoring, troubleshooting, and daily production/operations.
• Provide technical support for Microsoft Active Directory, including competence in Group Policy, replication, user/group administration, LDAP, and troubleshooting system health.
• Provide technical and operational support of Microsoft Windows server operating systems, including supporting enterprise DNS, WINS, DHCP, Group Policy, permissions, and hosted application support.
• Provide technical support for Microsoft servers and applications which include Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, SCCM and VMware.
• Provide technical support of managed services applications, including, but not limited to antivirus, anti-malware, encryption, remote access clients, asset inventory, remote administration, and audit logging.
• Perform reviews with IT staff, ensuring standards and practices are maintained. Work with IT staff on technical projects where infrastructure is needed or required.
• Responsible for system engineering documentation being updated and accurate. Including ensuring changes made by external resources, like vendors or contract system integrators.
• Execute change management and audit processes consistently and timely within documented procedures.
• Coordinate with 204x7 NOC for monitoring, troubleshooting, and daily production/operations.
• Microsoft Windows Servers.
• VMWare Virtualization of Windows Servers.
• Participate in engineering engagements with partners, vendors, and customers, being a subject matter expert in the responsible technologies.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skill while interacting with customers, team members, and IT staff.
• Demonstrate effective communication skill, both verbally and in writing.
• Attend and be prepared to contribute to required IT events and meetings on time.
• Ability to participate and respond to emergency events effectively while assigned to the "on call rotation".
• Ability to work with outside consultants and/or vendors, ensuring outcomes are achieved and standards maintained.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred or related experience.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Information Technology supporting Microsoft systems.
• Requires one information technology certification in one of the disciplines: Microsoft Server certification, VMware certification, or any storage area network certification; related experience will be considered.
Requirements and General Skills:
• Standard business hours. Overtime and weekend availability may be required.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation with team.
• Highly collaborative, team work environment with emphasis on participating in a knowledge culture.
• Works with other team members, including application development and project management.
• 24/7 On-call availability shared with other team members.
• Experience supporting hosted applications and services including domain trust relationships.
• Competence with SCCM.
• Competence in documenting server administration and support efforts, which includes troubleshooting methodology, work logs, and documenting resolutions.
• Ability to demonstrate being effective working independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to communicate clearly with internal customers and IT leadership.
• Working knowledge of EMC VNX SAN technologies.
• Show technical leadership and be able to mentor other team members and peers.
• Able to write effective technical documentation on the subject matter.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Minimum 6 years in a Microsoft Server Engineer or Administrator role.
• Hands-on experience with three of these technologies:
◦ Microsoft Active Directory,
◦ Microsoft SQL, MySQL,
◦ Microsoft SharePoint,
◦ Microsoft IIS/Company website (Administration/Troubleshooting),
◦ VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies,
◦ EMC Storage Technologies (NAS / SAN),
◦ Citrix, RDP, remote management services, OOB.
• SolarWinds, Footprints, Zenoss, Nagios experience are a plus.
• Commvault or other enterprise backup software tools considered a plus.
