Description
Responsible for supporting management of the firm’s qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. Role is focused on areas of plans’ assets, liabilities, accounting, reporting and audit. It is not focused on day-to-day plan administration.
Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day relationship with Trustee/Custodian, including ensuring accuracy in monthly accounting statements and dealing with day-to-day issues.
• Serve as project manager for regulatory filings (form 5500 and audited financial statements) and audit engagements for defined benefit plans. Duties include ensuring accuracy of asset, income and ASC820 table for a $1.5B Trust as well as completing appropriate schedules for Trust 5500 filing.
• Work on Company’s SOX compliance program related to U.S. and U.K. pension investments. Compliance mainly includes confirming fair value measurement of investments and assigning leveling classifications (e.g. Level 1, 2, 3) to investments.
• Maintain ongoing periodic reporting for retirement plans including cash flow, performance attribution and other ad hoc reports.
• Create annual global benefits budget across all benefit types for senior management.
• Work with plan actuary on pension assumptions, pension accounting disclosures for Company 10-k, regulatory funding, funded status monitoring as well as other related projects.
• Support defined benefit and defined contribution investment Committees including preparation of meeting materials, working with investment consultants and implementing Committee decisions.
• Support implementation of strategic initiatives related to retirement plans
Qualifications
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong financial, accounting and analytic skills
• Good understanding of pension accounting, funding regulations, and ERISA
• Solid working knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Actuarial background and experience with other benefits a strong plus
• Knowledge of capital markets and investments a strong plus
Experience
• 5+ years of experience with a background in accounting/finance and/or employee benefits
• Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, actuarial, benefits or similar type of field
