SUMMARY
Specific responsibilities include:
• Work with businesses to ensure best practices around taxonomy construction and work with enterprise-level team to govern implementation of controlled vocabularies.
• Ensure global understanding and execution against PLA metadata requirements (by capability)
• Be the single point of contact for content enrichment governance/management for all of Global Product.
• Work with CIO organization to vet new technologies that may enhance taxonomy management capabilities, and train relevant business stakeholders in the usage of adopted tools.
• Provide thought leadership across Company around relational mapping strategies that will semantically interrelate learning objectives, assessment items, taxonomy structures and metadata elements.
• Lead cross-functional taskforce(s) to establish and standardize a scalable workflow that converges product data and content metadata.
• Work with business stakeholders to explore opportunities to leverage open source standards in the organization and management of Company content.
• Deliver guidance documents and hands-on training related to development/remediation of content in accord with Next Gen product requirements.
• Lead Content Enrichment Program and ensure that Jira is updated to reflect CITE and Core Content Platform roadmaps and deliverables.
• Own dashboard to track progress in implementation of Content Enrichment.
• Operationalize content enrichment as standard practice for all products and build out budget model to ensure resources are lined up to deliver enriched products.
HIGH LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in cross-functional team to define product specific learner outcomes
• Responsible for managing capability dependencies across other key groups (Product Model, Mobile, PLA, Globalization, etc.) and ensuring capability delivery for product categories.
• Accountable for the ongoing identification and progress of innovative technology solutions that significantly advance the customer-value offered by the capability
• Responsible for leading a cross functional team (UX, LD, E&R) in designing solutions to the most important problems identified and prioritized by category management.
• Identify Product dependencies and likely impact downstream on outcomes due to strategic and development decisions
• Deliver integrated delivery models to develop and implement technology and business strategies that provide optimal learner experiences and impact on learner outcomes
• Communicates and directs Company's vision and how Product capability overall plan and how it contributes to category plan.
• Translates specific market opportunity or customer needs and expectations into product tool and component design.
• Collects inputs and data from other stakeholders to assess options and determine the most efficient and cost-effective approach to building product capabilities.
• Acts as members of cross-functional product teams.
• Provides input to the team on translating customer and technical requirements into well-engineered, tested and deployed product capabilities.
• Interfaces with stakeholders to determine feasibility for functional capabilities to meet customer expectations and needs.
• Anticipates external or internal obstacles to products delivery or profitability and ensures that product teams work within parameters of budget.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Library and/or Information Sciences; relevant graduate degree preferred. High GPA expected.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in a role related to education technology, preferably involving taxonomy/ontology management and development of metadata schemas and preferably with experience in product development.
• A clear understanding of the importance of markup languages in achieving interoperability via standards.
• Some familiarity with query languages such as SPARQL, SQL and Xquery, along with RDF data modeling (and knowledge representation languages such as OWL).
• Strong ability to build credibility with leaders and drive initiatives across the organization.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. This is a global role, and communication will be key.
• Able to work both on a team (as member and/or leader) and independently to deliver results.
• Preference to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
