The Senior Network Security Engineer position is responsible for acting as a lead technical resource for Network Security efforts at Starz. The position will assist with implementation and operation of technical solutions and processes, across a broad base of disciplines, to maintain a world-class security posture for Starz’ infrastructure and media assets within hosted and cloud environments. This position requires broad IT background, expertise in Information Security and in Network Engineering, technology security controls and compliance as well as strong communication skills. This position also needs to effectively manage business and technology processes and projects with cross-functional teams and deliver according to plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deep experience in TCP/IP network implementation, including complex campus and wide-area networking technologies. Ability to function as a senior member of the Network Engineering team and assist with the management and configuration across a heterogeneous network environment including high availability architectures, packet shaping and load balancing technologies.
• Expertise in implementing security technology solutions across a range of Network Security areas, such as internal segmentation in physical/virtualized environments, network IDS/IPS, firewall, web proxying and network DLP. Acts as the primary technical resource for these solutions.
• Translates business requirements into successful process and technology solutions.
• Performs network and application vulnerability assessments. Analyzes gaps, identifies potential issues and recommends corrective measures to ensure the integrity of the Starz’s security posture.
• Understands cloud environments and has specific expertise securing IaaS and PaaS environments such as AWS and Microsoft Azure. Experience with hybrid networking relative to these environments a plus.
• Works independently and with outside parties to perform network penetration tests, network vulnerability assessment, and network risk assessment reviews.
• Participates in the selection, configuration, and maintenance of network security hardware and software.
• Participates in conducting due diligence reviews of potential Network Security vendors, products and outsourced services.
• Serves in a cross-functional Security Incident Response Team to resolve security incidents for Starz.
• Partners with Starz IT teams to design secure network infrastructure and applications, and assists in or facilitates the implementation of protective and mitigating controls.
Required Skills:
• Minimum 7 years experience in IT, with at least 5 years direct experience in Network Security.
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Security, Networking, or related discipline.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, CCIE or equivalent.
• Relevant Information Security and control certifications preferred (any of CISSP, CISA, GIAC, etc).
• Solid experience with network security, with a firm understanding of network architecture and protocols, firewalls, internal segmentation, web proxying and IDS/IPS.
• Firm understanding and experience with networking and security in hybrid AWS or Azure environments.
• Experience with network vulnerability management, penetration testing, and incident response.
• Must be able to drive solutions in a collaborative manner, obtain clear requirements, analyze and articulate risk, identify issues and alternatives and recommend solutions commensurate with risk.
• Requires excellent analytical ability, consultative skills, strong judgment and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, team environment.
• Requires strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate across various levels. Ability to influence others is critical to success.
• Proven ability and desire to understand and develop expertise on new technologies quickly.
• Must be well organized with excellent follow up skills to meet deadlines, coordinates work of others while fostering team work and cooperation; able handle multiple concurrent tasks.
• Technical breadth in network security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications, LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN and network protocols.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience in a television broadcast environment a plus, but not required.
