Overview and Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager/Director of Multi-Platform Programming for Company International Media Networks (VIMN). The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President of Multi-Platform Programming to implement the long-term content strategy of MTV International, manage the day-to-day Programming of our MTV channels around the world, execute the multi-platform schedules and the dissemination of programming information to all key stakeholder groups.
The position will be a key member of the International Programming team and will, with the Vice President, work closely on all aspects of our programming pipeline, from content selection, budgeting, green lighting, and overall programming strategy and direction.
Responsibilities
• Support the overall MTV brand strategy through the programming of long form and short form content across our Programming Clusters and Regions around the world
• Oversee the day-to-day International Programming Plan across all platforms, focusing on the distribution and maintenance of international content in order to maximize proper balance and impact to our regions around the world
• Work with the VP to determine overall content mix to our plan, applying the MTV brand filter for all platforms
• Work with the Research team to monitor viewing patterns and work with regions to manage local ratings projections and performance and incorporate any necessary plan and schedule changes to improve performance
• Execute rollout plans and launch schedules for original content, including US and International series and specials. Manage performance across dayparts.
• Collaborate with various departments to help implement the channel strategy, including regional brand leads, ad sales, affiliate marketing, multi-platform, press, marketing and creative, on-air promotions, research, media planning, standards & practices, and ancillary business divisions
• Bring a multi-platform approach to the day-to-day scheduling of our content around the world, working with local experts to plan for optimal windowing to maximize viewership, while adhering to restrictions and requirements from affiliate partners.
• Act as key communicator to regions to learn about local strategies, opportunities and challenges. Work with VP to create new reports that will help communicate the MTV International content strategy to local regions
• Execute programming stunts and develop and implement innovative rollout concepts to bring attention to new content, increase viewership, and maximize utilization of MTV inventory
• Work with Sales and Marketing to create and deliver on sponsorship opportunities
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in program scheduling for a TV network, with experience in multi-platform programming required
• 2+ years in a Manager or higher level in programming for TV
Additional Qualifications
• Experience understanding and communicating programming research
• Strong teamwork and dynamic cross-cultural competency is key
• Proven ability to effectively manage conflict and competing priorities
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
• Strong computer skills including knowledge of programming scheduling software, as well as proficiency with common office software programs
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
