Senior Investment Director, Mission Related Investing
Firm Overview:
Company was founded 40 years ago to assist nonprofit institutions with the investment of their endowment assets. Today, we are a global organization that provides investment planning, research and management to more than 1,100 clients including nonprofit institutions, private clients (families) sovereign wealth funds and pension plans. The firm advises on the full range of assets and strategies, including equities, bonds, real estate, venture capital, hedge funds, leveraged buyout funds, oil and gas partnerships, and many other types of investments. We monitor the performance of nearly all major institutional investment managers and conduct in depth research on those we believe have potential to add value to our clients after fees. Our clients were amongst the earliest to invest in alternative strategies such as hedge funds and private equity so we have unparalleled depth of knowledge in these areas as well as substantial committed research resources and data.
Company has a staff of more than 1,200 professionals, including 200 Investment Directors and 150 Investment Associates, based in nine offices located in Arlington, Beijing, Boston, Dallas, London, Menlo Park, San Francisco, Singapore and Sydney. Ours is a long term business with long term client relationships. Accordingly, we take great care in selecting employees with both the aptitude and the willingness to build a long term career in a collegial, hard-working and intellectually challenging team.

Manager coverage will be across asset classes, including long-only equity and fixed income managers incorporating exclusionary screens and/or environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into the investment process, and a wide range of private investment strategies, including those focused on environmental sustainability, education, health and wellness, community development, financial inclusion, and infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with other members of the MRI Practice and Global Investment Research to complete in-depth due diligence on mission-related investment opportunities. Responsibilities include: hosting manager meetings, leading due diligence, travelling to on-site meetings, reference calls, and written reports summarizing the evaluation of the opportunity.

• Conduct ongoing monitoring of MRI managers, including reporting on impact outcomes.
• Serve as a resource to client teams seeking information and opinions on mission-related investment opportunities.
• Prepare materials for and participate in monthly manager research meetings where the MRI research team discusses manager ideas and current investment opportunities of interest.
• Track and analyze industry trends and disseminate information internally and to clients.
• Lead or contribute to topical research on key impact investing themes.
• Represent the firm at industry conferences and seek speaking engagements, where appropriate.
• Oversee the activities and workflow of the analysts in the MRI Practice, in coordination with other MRI Investments Directors.
Qualifications:
• A BA/BS required, MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
• 7 - 10 years of appropriate knowledge and experience preferred, gained from work in a similar capacity at a family office, large institutional investor (such as a pension fund or endowment), fund-of-funds, or at a private equity investment firm.
