Senior Financing Specialist -Windsor
Working in collaboration with Senior Account Managers, Financing Specialists are committed to the delivery of quality credit solutions to Company clients and targets
• Financing Specialists will be responsible for the development and underwriting of credit solutions for new and existing clients with exposure to more complex portfolios. In doing so, they will work directly with the Senior Account Managers (PL06/PL07) and Group Risk Management.
• Support PL 07/06 CAM with Portfolio Management & Compliance support at annual review.
• In addition, on an exception basis as requested by your manager and/or the local VP Commercial, the Financing Specialist will assist in the development and underwriting of credit solutions for a select number of complex relationships managed within PL08 portfolios.
• The Financing Specialist will also be responsible for preparation of Annual Credit reviews and Interim requests within the portfolios where the Total Single Name Exposure exceeds $1MM.
Tasks
• Financial statement analysis and development of credit structure solutions which meet the needs of our clients and are in line with the credit policies and appetite of the Bank
• Risk assessment, Transaction Requests and Risk Analysis Framework preparation.
• Direct client contact including discovery meetings, drafting and issuance of discussion papers, negotiation of terms and conditions (including pricing) and closing meetings/presentations.
• Ongoing presentations/meetings with Risk Management partners ahead of formal credit submissions
Key Accountabilities
Revenue Growth
• Recommend business pricing and fees within prescribed guidelines, understanding the need to balance sales results, portfolio profitability, and relationship building.
• Use of client profitability modeling (CPM) software.
• Support new client acquisition activities of a CAM where Credit Solutions may be needed. Make introductions and referrals to enterprise partners to meet the client’s broader advice needs
• Liberate capacity by effectively/proactively managing the credit renewal process such that Account Managers can spend more time growing the portfolio.
Risk Management
• Exercise due diligence in recommending/preparing credit applications re: know your client, know the transaction, credit structure, risk analysis and client strategy.
• Where opportunities are identified through coaching from VP Commercial or feedback from Risk Management, action is taken to improve and ensure risk position is regularized or shored up through specific action plans.
• Follow priority renewal guidelines, ensuring portfolio quality through effective management of expired credits.
• Follow procedures relative to changes in Borrower Risk Rating, kiting, anti money laundering, fraud prevention.
Client Experience
• Through provision of advice relative to credit structuring, differentiate Company in the eyes of clients and targets
• Via quick turnaround and a track record of meeting commitments, create a positive impression with respect to Company’s "speed to market"
• By utilizing effective discovery with the client/target and ongoing dialogue with Group Risk Management, enhance Company’s reputation as "easy to do business with
Knowledge / Experience
Skills/Competencies/Attributes:
• Strong financial, credit, accounting and structuring skills.
• Knowledge of credit products and the application thereof
• Effective in marketing proposed credit solutions to client/target
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines.
• Collaborative approach enabling the individual to work effectively with a number of Senior Account Managers, VPs and Group Risk Management
• Proven ability to model financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets.
• Strong computer literacy
Education:
• Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields (or equivalent experience)
• Work experience in commercial markets / finance and / or risk management.
