Summary of role:
• Ensure efficient & effective management of all the activity in scope
• Lead continuous improvement efforts in terms of process, technology & organization, referencing external best practices as appropriate
• Lead and manage a high performing, motivated team
Main activities/responsibilities:
• Manage the activities in the running the PB&F team. This includes establishing goals for the team, developing work schedules, back up procedures, managing staffing requirements to ensure coverage and dealing with escalations as necessary.
• Work alongside the team to ensure work is completed as expected including dealing with more complex activities and escalations.
• Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders to maximize customer service and meet Service Level Agreements, including regular stakeholder feed-back meetings after major deliverables, e.g. month end, forecast submissions.
• Lead, coach, train and develop team so they can proactively carry out their role to the highest possible standard. This includes recruitment, technical/system training, facilitating career development opportunities and identifying/acting on any motivation issues to retain staff.
• Ensure team members have the appropriate skills, supporting tools and technologies to enable them to deliver a differentiated customer service.
• Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and simplification. Innovate solutions so the team can operate in an efficient, consistent, repeatable and cost effective manner.
• Lead the team efficiently and effectively and ensure processes are simple, straightforward and value adding to PFS & Company Finance overall.
• Develop and monitor team performance to ensure Service Level Agreements are met.
• Manage performance of the team against differentiated service levels and targets including performance of individuals and teams on a regular basis and take corrective actions.
• Ensure all team deliverables are of high quality and submitted on time
• Ensure all submissions into corporate systems align to stakeholder (BPM team leader) expectations
• Ensure all processes are kept well-documented
• Manage successful transition of activities from Company teams into PFS
• Manage the impact of changes to Company systems (eg TEP) on processes and team.
Technical activities/responsibilities:
• Manage, perform and deliver the work of the Product & Customer Analysis & Pricing team:
• Manage, perform and deliver the work of the Planning, budgeting and forecasting team
Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Run month end close meeting efficiently and effectively, reviewing daily is delivered progress to ensure month end close is delivered on time and to the expected level of quality.
• Review results, analysis trends, assess new risks & opportunities, and flag for mitigation
• Ad-hoc data analysis to support the Global Product finance team
• Review and approve journal entries
• Develop a deep understanding of the variance financial systems and processes to be SME across systems enabling sharing of knowledge and best practice across the team.
• Coach and train team members on various systems, processes and policies.
• Ensure work is completed in compliance with both internal policy and accounting guidelines.
• Manage the performance management and development process with the team including goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.
• Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and study leave, absenteeism, and peak working.
• Maintain transparent and professional communication. Appropriately communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM, and regular interpersonal communication.
Expected results:
• Strong working relationship with the Finance Business Partnering team(s) supported
• Delivery of all work to agreed Service Level Agreements (time/quality and completion)
• Process improvement over time including simplification and standardization
• Flexibility to meet tight and changing deadlines
Qualifications
• Qualified accountant (preference for CIMA or CGMA) with minimum 3 years PQE.
• Background in the following areas and the ability to leverage these skills in support of Global Product Finance:
• Finance function and accounting operations, financial management and management accounting
• Budgeting, planning, forecasting and management reporting (including variance analysis)
• Project management & business case development
