Overview and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and supporting all Wireless and Network infrastructure in a global enterprise environment.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Provide operational implementation and support to Global Wireless and Backbone Network technology & Security solutions
• Provide 24x7 Wireless and Network support including project management, operation, expansion, and maintenance of all equipment within the NetEng domain
• Monitoring and support of Company global Wireless and Network and related security services issues in and out of hours, resolve complex system and network issues and outages
• Maintenance and administration of all production IP communications equipment
• 3rd line support of all Company wireless and network users
• Knowledge transfer to Level 2 Engineers on new implementations
• Escalation point for Level 2 Engineers and peers
• Acts as technical project manager by preparing project plans, interacting with other departments and guiding IT resources as required
• Design, manage and implement new Wireless and Network solutions
• Technical documentation on network migration and implementation
• Keeping all documentation (including LAN/WAN drawings and equipment lists) accurate and up to date
• Industry watching, both direct or through a third party, to ensure the company is aware and educated on emerging technologies
• Periodic update of support procedure and technical documentations
• Periodic review and upgrade system firmware, application software and IOS
• Vendor and 3rd Party support and escalations
• Works independently and exercises reasonable judgment with little supervision while providing clear documentation of activities and accomplishments
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent experience
• 3 - 5 years experience in IP wireless network communications environment
• In depth knowledge of Wireless and Network technology
• Understanding of WLAN authentication, security, and network management
• CCNP RS, CCNP Wireless, CCNP Security or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless AP and Controllers, IOS, NXOS, Load balancers, WAN accelerators, Content filters
Additional Qualifications
• Knowledge of IP security implementation, multi-vendor IPS, URL filtering
• Knowledge of Dark Fibre and CWDM/DWDM
• Knowledge of MPLS, BGP & Internet Exchange Peering
• Knowledge of QoS
• Knowledge of Multicast
• Knowledge and experience in provision, management and maintenance of structured cabling systems
• Experience in deploying SNMP based monitoring solutions
• Experience in medium/large corporate network rollout and support
• Experience in Large scale enterprise project management
• Experience in Media/Entertainment/Broadcast/Hosting/ISP environment
• Team Player
• Solid analysis skills and issue prioritisation
• Good time management with an ability to work on a number of projects and tasks concurrently setting own agendas and effectively prioritising work
• Strong enthusiasm for technology
