In short, we are a passionate team working hard to build the best platform in the world for communication and storytelling.
We’re looking for an Employee Relations Manager to join Team Company! You’ll be responsible for providing subject matter expertise for Employee Relations issues as well as investigating and responding to complaints and complex, high-risk, or sensitive employee relations cases. In this role, you will also help design and oversee development of employee and HR compliance policies and processes.
We’re small today, so expect to juggle tasks not typically associated with a Manager role. As we grow, your job will evolve. We guarantee that no day will be the same as the last! The role will report to the VP Legal/HR and will partner closely with our HR Team Advisors and Internal Counsel.
What you’ll do:
• Provide subject matter expertise in specialized regulatory areas (e.g., EEOC, ADA) and Employee Relations
• Investigate and respond to internal and external complaints, and complex, high-risk, or sensitive employee relations cases
• Provide consultation and guidance to managers and HR Team Advisors on employee relations issues and best practices
• Develop and own processes to handle intake, maintain investigative notes, supporting documents, and final reports
• Assist in addressing escalated employee relations cases, such as agency charges or threatened litigation
• Provide education and training on Employee Relations and HR Compliance issues, both in small group and company-wide formats
• Oversee design and development of various employee policies and HR Compliance policies and processes
• Proactively identify possible Employee Relations trends, and develop and implement proposed solutions, in partnership with HR, Legal, and other key stakeholders, to reduce any potential Employee Relations strain on the organization
What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor's degree required; in business or industrial relations, HR, public relations, or related field preferred. Masters/PHR or a JD (with experience working as an employment attorney) a plus
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in ER, HR, or employment and labor law
• A proven track record of strong investigations and employee relations experience
• Subject matter expertise in regulatory areas (e.g., EEOC, ADA), and experience working with the various laws that impact HR, such as: Title VII; ADA; FLSA; WARN Act; FMLA; OSHA; NLRA; FCRA; and comparable state laws
• A resourceful self-starter with a strong work ethic and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills. You’re both detail-oriented and able to think big picture in your approach
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional team skills, with an ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organization, and “intuition” is a must. Ensuring compliance while also maintaining communications in line with company culture is key!
• Excellent writing, presentation, and training skills
• Experience writing/drafting position papers and responses to requests for information
