Experience and Education
High school graduation or GED and four (4) years full-time paid experience in operation of various types of motor vehicles, such as vans, mini-buses, station wagons, etc. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for operating vehicles weighing 26,001 pounds or more. If incumbent carries 14 or more passengers including driver, CDL with passenger endorsement is required.
Job Duties
· Assists Supervisor in day-to-day transportation to ensure efficient and effective operations.
· Provides limited daily supervision of drivers. Monitors drivers to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties.
· Provides training to drivers which includes, but is not limited to, route training, usage of equipment and shuttle bus, etc.
· Receives direction from the Supervisor concerning the activities of the drivers assigned to the AM/PM shift.
· Operates van or mini-bus for transportation of employees and visitors on scheduled route connecting on-campus and off-campus locations. Picks-up and delivers mail, packages, drugs, and supplies to off-campus locations on assigned route.
· Learns multiple routes and may fill in on an as needed basis.
In outpatient clinic, transports patients to specialty care units and agencies within cooperative system.
· Maintains vehicle operating records and reports needed maintenance and repairs. Performs minor and routine maintenance such as refueling, ensuring proper tire pressure, and checking oil, water, and batteries periodically.
· Acts as a backup of operations for Supervisor and Manager as needed.
· May assist in completing annual employee performance evaluations.
· May assist in scheduling work, monitoring projects, and ensuring route coverage.
**Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
