Company Digital Media is seeking a Senior Director, Research & Insights. This person will be responsible for working with primary research, syndicated and secondary research, and internal data to deliver insights and storytelling to drive brand positioning and revenue growth. The ideal candidate must have strong client relationship skills; he/she will be going on client calls and represent Hearst Magazine Digital Media at key industry events. The position manages a team of two research and insights professionals, works hand in hand with the sales team and key stakeholders across the broader organization, and is part of the Industry Marketing team.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, develop, field and analyze original research studies to support ad sales
• Work with senior executives to understand priorities and opportunities and lead strategic response and execution
• Develop thought leadership whitepapers and presentations on a wide variety of categories and topics key to HDM’s revenue growth interests
• Support digital advertising sales with research findings, client presentations
• Provide category expertise on a consultative basis to both clients and advertising agencies
• Develop custom brand studies
• Pitch and implement ad effectiveness studies and work with seller and clients to identify metrics and analyze and package results
• Help package insights for marketing and communications collateral
• Work with other internal business units to develop potential data products
• Develop new ways for measuring campaign performance and audience insights
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree; MBA or statistics background preferred
• 8 - 10 years of prior consumer research experience; prior digital media experience is a big plus
• Familiar with online syndicated research and web analytics tools
• Ability to commission and manage qualitative and quantitative primary research studies
• Strong network of research vendor contacts
• Experience working with both large and small datasets in order to create new research and methodologies
• Great communicator able to understand complex data concepts and simplify and articulate them for a sales and marketing team
• A natural at narrative and using data insights to position a brand and its story for clients
• Comfortable working cross-functionally across departments and teams
• Enthusiastic evangelist that can rally support across business units and teams to execute on new research ideas, methodologies and products
