Senior Database Administrator
The Digital Networks Group at Company Television is looking for a talented Senior Database Administrator to join the team. The Digital Networks Group provides the platform and services for Crackle and Company Television Networks. This position’s primary responsibility includes designing, developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining Azure SQL databases for the platform, which includes its content management system, search/recommendations and notifications engines, web sites, client apps and back-end services. The Senior DBA will report into the Director, Software Engineering.
In addition, this role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues in timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Azure Database backup and restore from Azure/Aws table Storage.
• Manage Azure Geo-Replica databases.
• Perform database index/statistic tuning daily.
• Implement data partitioning or sharding based on the data scale.
• Create reports for business users.
• Real time Data sync between Azure SQL and AWS DR SQL.
• Stored Procedure and Database Schema Review.
• Data Refreshing using 3rd party tool (such as Redgate Schema Compare and Data. Microsoft SSDT schema and data comparer).
• Database Monitoring using New Relic or other monitoring tools.
• Identify bad query executions and work with developers to come up optimized query.
• Troubleshoot for any database schema sync issue.
• Monitor performance and managing parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users.
• Map out the conceptual design for a planned database.
• Refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model.
• Further refine the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
• Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act.
• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
• Control database access permissions and privileges.
• Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans.
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
• Capacity planning.
• Work closely with IT project managers, solutions architects and software developers.
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 5-7 years of professional MS server Administration experience.
• Minimum 2-3 years of professional Azure SQL or SQL Server Administration experience.
• Knowledge of variety of Databases including SQL Server or PostgresQL.
• Experience with SSDT.
• Working experience of writing Stored Procedures.
• Working experience of leveraging executing plans.
• Hands on experience with Data publish/subscribe services.
• Hands on experience with database load testing and Data Access Layers in C# or Java.
• Understanding of NOSQL Databases including MongoDB.
• Working knowledge of indexes, High Availability and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Azure SQL or SQL Server.
• Must have strong database design skills. Must be able to explain database schema that he/she have designed, including tradeoffs they made and why.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills – good at documenting code.
• Detail-oriented, well organized, quick learner with very strong technical aptitude and the ability to work concurrently on multiple projects.
