GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review and edit stimulus materials to ensure that they form appropriate and rich sources on which to base valid test test
• Ensure that stimulus materials are of an appropriate length and reading level and that a variety of reading levels are represented in the item bank
• Review and edit each and every item to ensure they faithfully measure targeted skills
• Coordinate with the test development vendor to ensure that all test items are of the highest quality
• Review fact-checks of items to ensure final accuracy
• Review scoring of items to scoring accuracy
• Ensure items are accessible for the widest range of test takers possible
• Act as facilitators of content reviews with outside content experts
• Facilitate rangefinding sessions and create scoring guides and other materials for the scoring of constructed response items
• Build test forms by reviewing results of the automated test assembly process for GED Ready®, the GED operational test on CBT and the operational test to perform item swaps and other required adjustments
• Build and review accommodated forms (e.g., Braille, paper, screen-reader-enabled) to ensure that these alternate forms measure the full breadth of skills shown in the GEDTS Assessment Targets at an appropriate range of difficulty levels.
• Create and contribute to professional development tools and publicly available products and materials that help inform both educators and test takers about the content of the test (examples include the free practice test, ER scoring tools, constructed response educational videos, and other reference materials).
• Conduct ongoing internal alignment studies to various state content standards and other assessment frameworks
• Review ordered item books to create and/or update Performance Level Descriptors.
• Create language and materials for score reports
• Provide training for external content reviewers
• Consult with team as required, including participation in planning, status, and other meetings
• Works closely with Test Development Managers, Content Developers, Psychometricians, and others within GED Testing Service and affiliates
Qualifications
Education, skills, and knowledge:
• Degree in subject area or in education required.
• At least 10 years classroom teaching and/or assessment experience in subject area or related experience in education or instructional design desired.
• Proven leadership at a national or state level related to education and/or assessment.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in assessing standards, instruction and professional development.
• Experience in educational assessment such as writing and editing test items (questions) strongly preferred. General knowledge of large scale assessment practices required.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to provide solutions to a variety of audiences including both sophisticated and naive customers. Experience leading meetings or providing professional development strongly preferred.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills required, including the ability to adapt to unforeseen requests or changes in priorities.
• Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work collaboratively and as a sole contributor; including the ability to provide unique solutions to simple, complex, and nuanced problems.
