Job Introduction
Company World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, delivering a wide range of language and regional services on radio, TV, online and social networks. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including shortwave, AM, FM, digital satellite and cable channels.
As part of a plan to open new radio broadcasts and online news offers, the Company World Service is establishing a Korean language programme.
The service is tasked with reporting on current affairs and key events on the Korean Peninsula, the neighbouring countries and the Koreans around the world.
We are now looking for a Social Media Editor to join the team based in Seoul.
Role Responsibility
Accountable for all social media output, digital content, videos, and innovative editorial projects to serve our Korean-speaking audiences in the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
Ensure Company Korean’s social media and digital content adheres to the standards of excellence and efficiency required of the Company World Service Group, and complies fully with the Company's editorial guidelines and objectives.
Responsible for originating creative and innovative ways of storytelling and implementing them for Company Korean, especially for social media consumption.
To play a lead role in communicating Company Korean’s social media strategy both within and outside the Company.
To collaborate with Company News online and Social Media Editors at the Company World Service to lead on key international and regional stories covered by the Company for Korean-speaking audiences.
To lead the change in the workflow to maximize Company’s reach and impact in Korean language on social media platforms such as KakaoTalk, Line, Facebook, Naver and others.
The post holder will also provide creative team leadership to ensure that the Company World Service maximises its potential in Company Korean for social media users.
The post holder will report to the Company Korean Editor and East Asian Digital Editor and work with all service editors and desk editors in the region.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate must have first-hand experience in working in broadcast media relevant to either South or North Korean current affairs, excellent written and spoken language skills in Korean language.
The ideal candidate must have experience in creating and curating content for social media in the Korean language, as well as a good feel for strong and distinctive stories.
High level of spoken and written English is desirable.
