DESCRIPTION:
Join the growing Company Radio Digital team as a Backend Engineer to develop innovative products for our digital publishing tools, web and app experiences across Company Radio Digital properties. Company Radio Digital offers the stability of a big company with the nimble and forward-looking feel of a startup.
As a Backend Engineer you will be responsible for the entire software development life cycle of products that you work on, in a small fast paced environment. You will utilize many different open source and proprietary technologies to build upon our core backend systems across all of the Company Radio Digital properties. You will contribute to the tool stack architecture and propose new technologies and workflows as appropriate to meet the needs of the company.
This opportunity is located in San Diego, CA reporting into the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement performant, scalable, and distributed web services and backend subsystems in a variety of languages best suited for the problem space.
• Own parts of the system and continuously work to improve them in an agile environment.
• Benchmarking and load testing.
• Diagnosing problems and helping create solutions.
• Manage the product lifecycle from concept through launch; identifying opportunities for ongoing improvements, using data analysis to inform product development decisions.
• Supporting operations team, using domain knowledge to improve DevOps lifecycle and improve operations environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Knowledge of Git, Docker, Linux, RabbitMQ, NoSQL/Cassndra, PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch and other large data management systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and diagnostic intuition.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn whatever may be necessary to solve the problem at hand.
• Love of open source tools, and a proven ability to use new tools in creative ways to solve business problems.
