The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Athletics invites applications in a national search for the position of Senior Associate Athletics Director-External Operations.
This full-time position provides executive level leadership to the Athletics Department in accordance with NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations while:
1) creating an atmosphere where graduation is facilitated through participation in intercollegiate athletics,
2) teaching student-athletes to be productive citizens who contribute to society for life, and
3) winning championships.

Traditional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing and directing Communications, Marketing, and Ticket Sales functions within the athletics department, sport oversight, providing strategic leadership to the overall athletics department, and building relationships with other departments and constituency groups on campus and in the community.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
• Minimum required experience: five (5) years of related experience
• Preferred experience: ten (10) years of experience in athletics with progressive increases in responsibility at the Division I level
• An understanding of and commitment to the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, when properly implemented, can play in the educational development of UAB student-athletes
• Leadership skills
• Budget management experience
• Ability to work successfully with other departments and constituency groups on campus and in the community
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to working with multicultural populations and an awareness of issues affecting women, minorities and international student-athletes
• Proficiency with computer applications and general office software
