Overview:
Company Television (SPT) is one of the fastest growing TV networks in the UK, currently operating 15 linear television channels – distributed across the Freeview, Sky, Virgin and Freesat platforms.
SPT Networks operates channels in the Kids, Movies, Music and Entertainment categories, with channel brands including Sony Movie Channel, Movies4Men, True Entertainment, True Movies, Chart Show, The Vault, Pop and Tiny Pop.
SPT’s UK Research team currently has an opportunity for a Research Manager UK, to join their team on a permanent basis. SPT Networks is a fast growing and demanding division of the Company business, requiring people who are committed to working hard and driving change.
Key Responsibilities include:
BARB analysis of our channels and competitors will form the core of the role, but you will also take the lead on our regular reporting, get involved in forecasting scenarios for the business, utilise other information resources, and have the opportunity to work across bespoke quant and qual research projects.
An understanding of BARB data and a ratings software tool is therefore essential, and in particular the TechEdge software tool would be highly desirable. You will specialise in one or more of the four channel genres we operate in, working closely with the channel teams to provide short and long term insight, which will in turn lead to commercial gains.
You will provide weekly insight into the performance of our channels and the market, and a far greater level of analysis on a monthly basis – helping to present that analysis to the channel teams and senior management. There will be other ad hoc ratings and demographic analysis requests that you will manage on a case by case basis.
In addition, you will be expected either to lead or participate in the commissioning and running of quant and qual research – working very closely with the research agency to deliver back relevant and actionable insights to the business.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
• Typically 5 years of experience in a ratings-based research role at a TV broadcaster
• Keen interest in the television market and a strong understanding of BARB data
• Extensive knowledge of the UK media landscape – traditional and digital
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with solid undergraduate degree
• Comfortable presenting to large groups including senior management
• Highly numerate and analytical
• Ability to work well under pressure; and to plan, organise and prioritise workload
• A team player, able to build good working relationships with colleagues
