The Wiens Lab, housed within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Company College of Public Health, seeks to hire a Research Associate dedicated to advancing our understanding of cholera burden and epidemiology across various projects. These initiatives encompass three primary areas: 1) synthesizing data to identify overlooked cholera infections within current surveillance systems, 2) assessing the proportion of individuals seeking medical care for cholera symptoms, and 3) investigating the factors influencing healthcare-seeking behaviors.
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in each project, contributing to and possibly leading data analysis and literature reviews, as Company as crafting scientific manuscripts. Additionally, they will support grant administration for ongoing projects and participate in grant writing for future endeavors building upon this research. Flexibility is essential as the research professional may also assist with project management and coordination, ensuring adherence to timelines and facilitating team communication through both email and direct meetings.
Guidance and mentorship will be provided initially by the supervisor to facilitate proficiency in these responsibilities. Over time, the successful candidate will be expected to independently complete these tasks with precision and effectiveness, demonstrating autonomy and sound judgment in their execution.
Essential functions: Conduct thorough synthesis of data extracted in narrative literature reviews, analyzing findings critically; Perform quantitative analyses of data obtained through literature reviews, including exploratory, spatial, and meta-analyses; Engage in study review, coding, and analysis for qualitative literature meta-syntheses; Contribute to the writing of scientific manuscripts; Assist in grant writing and administration; Coordinate and manage project timelines as required; Facilitate and lead team communications and meetings as necessary; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of research experience in public health, epidemiology, or a closely related field (through paid positions and/or equivalent experience gained through internships and/or coursework). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated experience in conducting literature reviews, including critical review, data extraction, and synthesis.
*Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
*Exceptional attention to detail and a dedicated commitment to project completion.
*Strong proficiency in time management and organization.
*Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
*Familiarity with computer coding in R.
Preferred:
*Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research.
*Experience in management or project coordination.

This is a grant funded position.
This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Company and the Department.
