Responsibilities We are looking for an experienced, digitally savvy general assignment reporter and writer to join our team at NBC News. Candidates should have previous experience working a news beat, covering a combination of breaking news and feature stories and the proven ability to generate their own story ideas. The reporter will work with the international news desk to tackle assignments for all NBC News brands, contributing stories to digital and television platforms. Candidates should be comfortable covering stories across a variety of topics – from breaking news to criminal justice to sports to pop culture. Candidates must be willing to travel on occasion with short notice and have experience teaming up with photographers and videographers. Candidates also must be team players who are comfortable collaborating across platforms. Qualifications/Requirements Key Duties / Responsibilities   • Execute assignments generated by both the senior assignment news editors and digital news editors.   • Cover breaking news, sending information back to the main newsroom and while also generating new angles to pursue.   • Report and write original, interesting, engaging stories.   • Shoot video and photos as needed.   • Travel as required, including internationally.   • Work as a team player across all NBC News platforms. Skills, Experience & Requirements   • At least five years as reporter, writer, producer and/or editor at a news organization, or a comparable body of freelance work.   • A strong news background, with some staff newsroom experience.   • High comfort level on executing assignments generated by editors.   • Sources in key areas (politics, criminal justice, and/or transit).   • Native curiosity in just about everything, and desire to look far and wide for good stories.   • Experience covering breaking news in competitive environments is desired.   • Experience working in a broadcast newsroom preferred.   • Ability to shoot video and still photography for digital platforms is preferred.   • Undergraduate degree, preferably in journalism, political science or English.   • Must be able to work weekends   • Eligible to work in the UK   • Full English language capabilities
