Job Introduction
Newsnight is looking for an experienced network television production manager to be part of our dynamic team working closely with the editorial leads across both the daily broadcast and forward planning / films. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working on live, studio and OB programmes and will need to be confident in managing/scheduling news output and large diverse teams. Long form documentary and factual experience is certainly advantageous as are reserves of energy, enthusiasm and humour!
The role is full time based in New Broadcasting House (London W1) with regular working hours. However, on-location working and flexibility around working days/time is expected depending on production need and schedule.
Role Responsibility
Working in partnership with the senior editorial team and the unit manager, the production manager is responsible for managing the programme on a day-to-day basis. This involves liaising with a variety of colleagues from across the Company and externally and ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, risk management and production planning, all in a demanding and changing environment. The production manager will manage and develop a team of production management staff, within the context of the Newsnight team and the wider Current Affairs Department.
Post holders at this level report to a Unit Manager in Current Affairs and are responsible for the management of one or more productions, depending on scale and complexity. They have delegated decision-making authority regarding budgets, resources and day-to- day management of their production(s), working within Company guidelines and frameworks.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous production management experience, strong interpersonal skills, resilience to work within a News environment, as well as demonstrable knowledge of the output.
