Production Editor - Berkley
The Production Editorial Department of the Berkley Publishing Group is seeking a self-motivated individual to join their team as a Production Editor. Working with adult commercial fiction titles, the role will review text throughout the various production stages and will copyedit, proofread, and circulate book covers.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Working on and reviewing all phases of print and digital text.
2. Copyediting and proofreading book covers through all stages of production.
3. Hiring and overseeing the work of freelance copyeditors and proofreaders.
4. Coordinating schedules with freelancers, editors, and the production team.
5. Handling text, cover, and eBook corrections for backlist reprints and repackages.
Please apply if you meet the following minimum requirements:
• 2 years of book publishing experience, including production or managing editorial
• Strong knowledge of book layout and production in both print and ebook formats
• Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work successfully on a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word (especially the track changes function) and Adobe Acrobat
• Knowledge of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 11th edition, and The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition and above
• Knowledge of other electronic workflow processes a plus
