Company Product is seeking a proven leader to manage the Project Management Office (PMO). The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) & Digital Development reports to the VP of Product Operations and is responsible for the overall project management function, providing leadership, training, coordination and management of the PMO processes and functions. The role serves as a conduit for communication between project managers and the product managers who make the strategic decisions for those projects. The PMO acts as a “Centre of Excellence,” designed to help achieve better quality, consistency and oversight of projects across the organization – doing so by developing and maintaining project management methodologies, standards and tools. This Director supervises the team that provides project management support functions and administrative support to project managers. This person is a tech-savvy professional with excellent, methodical and time management skills. This person will lead a group of project managers who will manage numerous large digital projects with cross-functional teams responsible for delivering world-class products in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. The PMO is responsible for planning, executing, reporting and evaluating technology projects from inception through completion. The PMs in the PMO have the responsibility of ensuring quality control and transparency throughout project life cycles. The PMs are accountable for upholding PMO Standards and ensuring that PMO tools are being consistently and appropriately utilized. A major driver of success is the degree to which special business projects are executed effectively and efficiently. Ultimately, manages and delivers our projects’ through the digital lifecycle on time and within budget.
Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the development, governance, and implementation of processes, methodologies, tools, and products within the PMO
• Be a steward of the product creation process. Lead the training/mentoring of the team on project management methodologies and best practices. Facilitate the team toward greater speed, quality and productivity.
• Create and maintain product roadmap for the build-out of the PMO, with short-, medium- and long-term objectives.
• Proactively evaluate and identify opportunities for process improvements. Develop documentation practices to track processes & procedures to maintain efficiency
• Monitor day-to-day activities of the PMO and ensure work is progressing as planned. Actively monitor project risks and scope creep to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions.
• Foster transparency for your team via project management tools and reports.
• Create and conduct training programs related to the goals of Product Operations
• Manage stakeholder/product manager expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality service, and solicit and act on feedback.
• Interface with Product and Technology VPs and CPO to provide strategic and tactical advice on project/program planning and execution
• Resolve issues quickly or escalate to management as needed.
• Stay abreast of the latest project management and Agile techniques, methods, practices.
• Handle other essential tasks as assigned.
• Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and team development to project management staff.
Qualifications:
• Excellent leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• A master of communication, including conflict resolution skills and the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of technical knowledge.
• Professional experience collaborating in an Agile environment on large-scale development projects.
• Ability to take charge and initiate when needed with the power to influence team members to build towards consensus.
• Ability to be a positive change agent within the product team, as well as across the organization.
• Ability to review, understand, and challenge technical estimates/timelines.
• Experience working across several projects ranging in size in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with a range of appropriate software tools and methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile methodologies.
• A minimum of 7 years of project-related experience and 3-5 years management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or coursework in project management.
• Certified ScrumMaster and PMP certification a plus.
• Various Project Management Methodologies including Agile/Scrum. Certified ScrumMaster a plus.
• Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, BaseCamp experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical skills.
