The diversity of our operations has recently created an opportunity for a Product Development and Production Associate in our New York offices. The Product Development and Production Associate supports the development and delivery of the seasonal line development from conception to adoption. They work cross-functionally and are key partners to Designers, Product Engineers and regional offices in developing product to realize the global vision. They will support the PLM Manager to ensure that all designs meet product map and margin goal objectives and are in alignment with the category sourcing strategy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Gain a solid understanding of the seasonal product needs and margin goals outlined in the Product Map to support the development of the seasonal and long term global business strategy
• Participate in the Material Strategy Meeting to ensure that all fabric selections meet target cost parameters.
• Communicate and actively bring opportunities to platform fabrics across genders/brands, wherever possible
• Execute the seasonal line vision (in partnership with Product Engineer) through development and construction options. Working in partnership with the materials team and regional offices, ensures these options are aligned to brand standards.
• Support Product Engineer to ensure products are designed to cost and help to find alternative material options, as necessary to meet targets
• Follow up with materials team to ensure that all selected materials meet quality standards and are approved for production prior to product adoption
• Attend design handoff meeting with designers and product engineers to notate prototype needs and ensure that all initial BOMs are complete with all material components required for sample development
• Work closely with the regional offices in the management of the sampling process including both prototypes and sales campaign samples; ordering sample yardage, requesting samples, tracking samples, and coordinating fit sessions
• Attend prototype reviews to notate product changes and required updates to BOM that need to be communicated to vendor and costing team
• Responsible for the completion of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for all phases of development and bulk production by working closely with materials team, designer and product engineer to ensure accuracy of all material components and supplier numbers
• Manage the collection and approval setting of fabric bulk standards and distribution to respective platform office fabric teams post product adoption
• Ensure individual calendar deadlines are met and participates in milestone meetings, as appropriate
• Responsible for creating weekly reports to management on completion status of critical path milestones
• Proactively manages product using quantitative analysis to review options for product lifecycle management
Skills/Requirements
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:
• Education: Minimum Associates Degree
• Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in product development or production
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel; PDM/PLM type programs; knowledge of garment construction. Working knowledge of PTC Windchill or other PLM system; Proficiency in creating pivot tables; Working knowledge in creating and running Business Objects reports
• Technical understanding of woven fabrics, especially wool fabrics; Knowledge of tailored clothing construction
• Solid knowledge of production sources and capabilities
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple cross functional teams, overseas offices and global supply base
• Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks to achieve critical path deadlines
• Strong understanding of product costs and cost estimating skills
• Solid analytical and decision making skills
• Strong attention to accuracy of product details
• Ability to easily adapt to change and quickly react to shifting demands
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL LEVEL & EXPERIENCE:
• Education: Minimum Associates Degree
• Experience: Minimum 5years’ experience in product development or production
