Department Profile
The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. FCG prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting FCG, along with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization’s financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. FCG is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review.
This position is within MSPBNAs FP&A group and requires a strong, self-motivated and innovative individual to support the deliverables of that group. FP&A plays a critical role in the banks annual DFAST filing and the individual will work closely with Business Unit and Legal Entity Controller groups, Bank Treasury, Risk Management and other stakeholders to meet the DFAST requirements. The individual will also contribute to the forecasting and planning process of the Banks balance sheet and income statement as well as management reporting including analysis of the Banks performance and metrics. The bank will also be required to submit a Recovery Plan consistent with its status as a Material Operating Entity.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist in the production & analysis of monthly financial reporting for MSPBNA including Product Profitability Reporting and peer analysis.
• Prepare & coordinate the quarterly and multi-year forecasting and planning process including working on the Strategic Plan.
• Utilize multiple data sources to create metrics reporting, including Balance and Revenue analysis, Expense analysis & Key Risk Indicators.
• Expand & improve the quality of data in the Analytical Environment - a core Finance deliverable. Leverage this functionality to create new insightful tools and optimize existing reporting and controls.
• Work with Finance Management on various ad hoc reporting/analysis including MSPBNA profitability, financial modeling, etc.
• Assist with the review of the monthly close and in preparing for meetings with Regulators.
• Work on remediation of Internal Audit or Regulatory matters requiring attention.
• Assist with the annual DFAST filing as well as meeting Firm CCAR deliverables.
• Assist with preparation of materials for Board of Directors and Regulators.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree required
• 10-15 years of experience in financial planning & reporting, analytical and financial modeling
• Must be able to work with large data sets
• A great aptitude for numbers and quick grasp of new reporting applications
• Must be extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Must have strong project management skills
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
• A desire to work in a team based environment and contribute as a team player
• Ability to handle multiple projects, competing priorities/deadlines with high degree of flexibility
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Financial Services industry experience is a plus
• Knowledge of Essbase is a plus
