An exciting opportunity has become available for a Principal broker to join Company’s Corporate Sport team in Melbourne. Leading a small team, you will be responsible for the growth, profitability, and client satisfaction of a book of business containing medium to large high-profile accounts of national sporting organisations. This includes providing excellent service to our clients, acting as the client's trusted risk advisor, pursuing new business development, and expanding and diversifying the value we deliver to our client by matching their needs with Company’s risk tools.
Reporting to the National Manager – Corporate Sport, you will be responsible for mentoring and supporting junior brokers within the team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual with a comprehensive understanding of commercial insurance to develop their leadership skills and progress in their career.

We will count on you to:
- Utilise risk expertise and knowledge of industry and insurance marketplace to review clients’ exposures and develop solutions.
- Present market trends and premium changes at client board meetings.
- Invest in relationships with key client contacts across your book of business and contribute to the whole team’s growth.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of your clients’ needs and how these interact with broader sporting industry and risk trends.
- Execute renewal/placement strategies in conjunction with Company placement and product specialists and execute in accordance with client instructions.
- Assist in presentations to prospective clients and develop innovative solutions to gain new clients and projects.
- Understand our clients’ needs and coordinate opportunities to leverage Company’s advanced risk product offerings, market trend analysis and consulting practices to best serve their risk requirements.
- Define and execute the strategy for your team and help build and define the wider Corporate Sport team strategic outlook.
- Assess, refine, and develop internal process and operational procedures to ensure they best support your client requirements.
- Attend and participate in industry events, sporting events and conferences, and client functions to build up a strong professional network.
- Maintain proximity to insurance market and represent the Company and its product offerings and solutions.
We would like you to have:
- 5+ years’ experience within a commercial insurance environment, with strong experience in corporate insurance products (particularly Public Liability, Association Liability, Directors and Officers, Personal Accident, etc.)
- Insurance broker’s license
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation including the ‘C’ Suite
- Business acumen including a well-rounded knowledge of general business and finance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A humble and team-focused approach
- Strong organisation skills with an ability to prioritise work, multi-task and consistently meet deadlines
- People-management experience preferred, however other leadership skills will be considered
- Whilst prior experience in corporate sport insurance is not a pre-requisite, a passion for sport, and understanding of the industry is beneficial
