Description
Responsibilities:
The Planning Director (PD) is responsible for working with Financial Advisors (FAs) and Advanced Planning Directors to provide customized wealth planning strategies to clients and prospects within the Wealth Management business of Company. As a senior member of the Wealth Planning Centers (WPCs), the Planning Director will work closely with Advanced Planning Directors, Planning Analysts and other professionals to develop and deliver customized wealth analyses to clients and prospects. The PD will assist in the ongoing training and professional development of FAs and will market the activities and services of the WPCs to the firm at large.
The WPC team works with Financial Advisors on the front end to get a full understanding of a client’s goals and objectives and then delivers customized recommendations to the client / family in the form of a comprehensive Personal Wealth Analysis (PWA) or a Limited Scope Engagement. As necessary, the PD will coordinate comprehensive and integrated planning across a wide array of customized solutions and recommendations including:
• Cash flow modeling and liquidity management
• Estate, gift, and generation skipping tax planning
• Income tax planning
• Retirement and educational tax planning
• Business succession planning
• Philanthropic and charitable planning
• Asset protection and risk management
• Executive compensation and benefits
• Family dynamics
Such coordination may involve other key areas of the firm including, but not limited to, trust, insurance, lending, retirement planning services, restricted and controlled securities, alternative investments and asset management in the overall client planning process.
The Planning Director will be responsible for educating and coaching FAs as well as more broadly representing the offerings of the Wealth Planning Center in order to promote business development for the WPC and to maintain a robust pipeline of client and prospect activity. These business development activities include:
• Participating in Client Development Meetings
• Working with regional and local branch management to support their business development initiatives around HNW clients and prospects
• Enhancing the visibility and value proposition of the WPCs through branch visits and individual meetings with FAs and their clients
• Participating in recruit meetings
• Actively seeking opportunities for value-added discussions with FAs and their clients on relevant and timely wealth planning related strategies
• Providing intellectual capital to FAs and clients through white papers and educational presentations
• Responsible for reporting monthly activities, results, and success stories
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
• JD with at least 5 + years’ experience in trust and estate planning for high net worth individuals; other advanced degrees a plus
• Outstanding communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
• Strong coaching and presentation skills
• A demonstrated commitment to both partnership and teamwork, and initiative to proactively address Financial Advisors and client situations as they arise
• Familiarity with financial services / wealth management industry an advantage
• Series 7, 24 and 66 licenses required (can be obtained post-employment)
• Maintain continuing education requirements with focus on areas including estate and tax planning
• Extensive travel required
