Responsibilities
Reporting in to the International Payroll Director, based in London, this role is responsible for the implementation and governance of end to end payroll processes, compliance and projects. This role is key in ensuring that appropriate frameworks are in place to ensure payroll and associated processes are audit ready at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, initiate, maintain, and review policies and procedures for the general operation of the Payroll department.
• Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
• Conduct internal periodic reviews to ensure compliance procedures are followed and to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues. Assess compliance or operational issues to develop risk management strategies.
• Collaborate with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
• Ownership of the entire lifecycle of projects (including initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure).
• Support Payroll team members with the compilation of and maintenance of high level standard payroll procedures.
• Guide and support the Payroll team with month end and year end tasks internationally, in particular for UK e.g. P11D, PSA, Merit and Bonus increases.
• Support the Payroll Director to manage a team of 8 staff and 85 monthly payrolls across 31 countries in UK, LATAM, EMEA regions.
• Train new members of the team when required (specifically around system access, day to day operations etc.)
• Educate payroll team and stakeholders on payroll laws, regulations and company policies.
• Instil a continuous process improvement mind-set within the team.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
• Attend training sessions and qualify as a LEAN SIX SIGMA practitioner.
Qualifications/Requirements
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Educated to degree level finance or payroll related qualifications
• Extensive payroll experience at International level (particularly EMEA)
• Experience and/or exposure to expatriate payroll
• In depth knowledge of UK legislation
• Good understanding of additional EMEA country legislation
• Good understanding of PSA process and filing
• Previous experience of ADP Freedom, Streamline and SAP
• Ability to operate effectively across diverse cultural and business environments
• Demonstrable experience of delivering projects
• Project and implementation orientated
• Excellent understanding of compliance and governance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effective planning and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate at different levels
• Strong problem solver
• Additional languages would be an advantage but not essential
• Continuous improvement mind-set
