Payroll Assistant
The Payroll Assistant will act as the main point of contact for employees seeking payroll information. The incumbent will work closely with the Payroll Manager to engage in various administrative tasks within the payroll process and help the finance department as needed.
Type of Position: Contract or permanent
Responsibilities:
• Update and enter changes into employee payroll records via Desjardins – EmployerD
• Prepare paper work for New Employees – electronic pay stubs
• Act as the main liaison between payroll and employees
• Receive all employee questions and ensure prompt response
• Responsible for employee expenses: follow up on approval from managers, enter expense reports into the database, and prepare payroll entries
• Assist in preparation of bi-monthly payroll
• Enter new applicants for RRSP accounts into Desjardins Financial
• Assist with payroll accounting entries
• Assist finance department with accounting when needed
• Perform other payroll related duties as required
Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, payroll or equivalent training
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or enrolled in the courses and working towards completion
Experience:
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience in high volume payroll with preference given to candidates with a PCP designation
Essential skills:
• Experience with third party payroll providers (i.e. Ceridian, ADP, Desjardins)
• Good working knowledge of Excel
Other skills:
• Highly motivated
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Resourcefulness
• Ability to adapt and manage priorities
• Results oriented
• Knowledge of the video game industry an asset
