Internship Program Summary
A Day in the Life
Company New Business Development is charged with enabling Company’s proprietary platform for boundaryless retail by identifying partners and new business models that create new revenue sources, grow existing businesses and extend our reach to new customers. Some of Company’s existing partners include Coca-Cola, HGTV, Univision, Toyota and Disney. The intern program is designed to provide the student with an overview of new business development strategies along with the various surrounding marketing functions while allowing them to select a mini-research project to learn the business in a deeper way and have a meaningful experience that will complement their education and eventual career.
• Achieve Company's internship program global objectives
◦ Understand the company's mission and strategy and develop an understanding of how the global plan helps define business unit strategy and goals.
◦ Develop an understanding of divisional organizational structure and the cross-functional relationships that the business unit has with other parts of the business.
◦ Gain practical industry experience in a profession that aligns to the desired career path.
• Gain familiarity with NBD focus areas – meet with identified leader in each area for 1 hour interview (pending internship length) and provide written summary of strengths and opportunities for improvement in each area based on students questions and own research/experience
• Receive an overview of Company Marketing Department and Functions– meet with identified leader in each area for 1 hour interview (pending internship length) and provide written summary of strengths and opportunities for improvement in each area based on students questions and own research/experience
• Select one business challenge or area to research so the student has a tangible project to dig into and share back to the University as well as have a sense of accomplishment and opportunity to display their entire skill set for future Company opportunities.
Keys to Success
Must Haves:
• Working towards a Bachelors Degree in a related field with the ability to obtain course credit through the college or university for unpaid program
• Commit at least 20 consistently scheduled hours per week; interns can work up to 40 hours per week and will have the opportunity to meet the hourly requirements of the university
• Proficient in Microsoft office programs
• If not local, temporary relocation to St. Petersburg, FL.
