The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Network Roaming, the Specialist, Network Roaming is responsible for proactive monitoring of Roaming Customers (Inbound & Outbound) via Active and Passive tools; IREG and TADIG testing; in addition to trends identified via the Incident Management team to ensure an optimal and seamless roaming experience by all customers. As new / advanced monitoring tools evolve, the Specialist, Network Roaming will incorporate such into the monitoring regimen.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
• End to end IREG Testing (GSM, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, etc…) including associated trouble-shooting
• End to end TADIG validation
• Daily monitoring of top roaming partners and VIP’s (voice, data, sms, etc…)
• Performance analysis of Network Roaming products and tools (daily, monthly, quarterly, annually); including vendor escalations to remedy when necessary
• Establish and adhere to KPI’s and KQI’s
• Creating / Updating documentation of procedures associated to new monitoring tools, enhancements, optimizations and best practices
• Training of Network Roaming team on monitoring tools as needed, including best practices and efficiencies
• Prompt analysis of new partner implementations (Inbound & Outbound) to ensure complete and accurate connectivity
• Assists in investigation and resolution of all escalated issues with internal contacts and/or external vendors or partners
• Root cause and/or trend analysis of gating issues including prompt action / recommendations to remedy
• Roaming Presentations to Internal Departments within Company Mobility / BCE or externally where deemed necessary (i.e. Weekly status updates, Industry User Group participation, etc…).
• Initiate cross functional teams with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) from other departments, vendors and /or Carriers when necessary on a timely basis
• Fulfills Management duties in the absence of Senior Manager, Network Roaming and performs other miscellaneous duties as required
• Incumbent requires flexibility with respect to working hours in order to meet Business needs, which may fall outside the typical Mon-Fri 8:30 am – 5:00 pm workday
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
• Excellent Knowledge of wireless networks (GSM, UMTS, HSPA, CAMEL, LTE, etc)
• Overall understanding of Telecommunications products, services and systems
• Strong technical background and knowledge of wireless networks (voice, sms, data call flows and architecture)
• Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical knowledge of SS7 and wireless networking protocols
• Strong technical knowledge of Data networks
• Knowledge of Value added services and features available on Company Mobility Network
• Knowledge of various UE’s and Smartphones
• Self motivated individual with the ability to work in a demanding and structured/unstructured environment
• Excellent investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong PC skills (excel, access, PowerPoint, etc)
• Solid interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities
• Results oriented
• Strong Communication and Organizational skills
• Solid record of delivering results
• Outstanding Client and Vendor relation skills
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
• Good understanding of Company policies, procedures and processes.
• Technical or Engineering degree in Electrical / Computer Science and/or 3-5 years of related Wireless experience is desired.
• As Network Roaming interfaces with countries around the world, being fluent in other languages would be a strong asset.
• The incumbent must be a strong team leader and display a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to confidently react to and manage multiple / varying daily priorities, as well as adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining a professional disposition at all times.
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
